The main goal of the SPKTS Postgraduate Studies in Specialized Translation is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to translate specialized texts: legal, economic and commercial, EU and scientific as well as technical.
The program comprises 160 hours of classes which are taught by specialists (academic teachers and professional translators). The classes are divided into three modules that reflect the qualifications obtained:
(1) Introduction to specialized translation
- Status and ethics of a translator's profession
- Translation as a profession
- The exam qualifying to become a sworn translator
(2) Specialized translation: the translator's workshop
- Information technology for translators
- Polish for translators
- Translation strategies
(3) Specialized translation: practical exercises
- Legal translation
- Economic and commercial translation
- Translation for the EU
- Scientific and technical translation
- Introduction to interpreting
Proficiency in Polish (C1/C2 level) and English (C1/C2 level) is required during all classes.
Admission to the programme is based on a placement test whose aim is to assess the candidates' knowledge of both English and Polish.

A prerequisite for completing the studies is obtaining positive grades in all subjects, according to the rules set by individual lecturers, and passing the final exam in practical translation.
Graduates will acquire the following qualifications:
- Ability to translate legal texts, commercial and economic texts, EU texts as well as scientific and technical texts into Polish and English;
- Acquisition of basic skills in consecutive and a vista interpreting;
- Knowledge of legal, economic, EU, scientific and technical issues and related terminology;
- Familiarity with CAT tools;
- Knowledge of translation strategies for identifying and solving various translation problems.
- Knowledge of the linguistic and stylistic aspects of Polish;
The graduates receive a completion certificate.
IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025, classes will be conducted on-site.
